Several Killed in Maligaon Guwahati Blast

A powerful IED blast took place in Maligaon, Guwahati on Monday afternoon at around 2 PM killing 6 and injuring more than 30. The blast went off in the crowded Maligaon bus stand. After the blast, fire engulfed many vehicles that were parked near the blast site. The injured have been rushed to the nearby private nursing home and Gauhati Medical College Hospital in Bhangagarh. The bomb was kept in a motor cycle that was parked near the bus stand. Authorities suspect the hand of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) rebels behind the blast in Guwahati. The blast took place ahead of the ULFA ‘flag raising day’. Police have cordoned off the area and the injured were being rushed to nearby hospitals. A chaotic situation broke out in the blast site as an enraged mob attacked police & media personnel after the incident. Police resorted to baton-charge to bring the situation under control.
