Sakshat to introduce Rs.500 laptops

A laptop reported to cost only Rs. 500/- (10$), developed by students from Vellore Institute of Technology, scientists in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and IIT-Madras with the help of Semiconductor Complex, will be on display in Tirupati on 3 February, at the launch of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology.

The laptop will feature 2GB memory, WiFi, Ethernet, expendable memory with 2W of power.

This device is likely to be called Sakshat and will be launched through National Mission on Education.
