Movie Review Mestri | Mestri Telugu Movie Review
The names of Haranatha Rao as scriptwriter and Srilekha as music composer and Kota Srinivasa Rao and Velu in the cast raise hopes of a sensible film dealing with contemporary politics. But the effort made by the director who is also its storywriter looked more of aping earlier films like Chiranjeevi’s ‘Tagore’ and the recent hit ‘Aparichithudu’. They said already what this film says. The unfortunate thing is introduction of a comedy track specially written by Bollimuntha Nageswara Rao, as if the days of Appalacharya returned. But what he did is writing double meaning dialogue to show Abhinayasri with two coconuts in her hand and comparing them with her physical culture.
When it comes to the story part we compare it films of that kind, showing how the hero camouflaging himself as some one else and then attacking the villains of the society. The villains are a routine mixture of a politician a couple of contractors and muscle men who parade in the streets. The hero is a Mestri (one who heads a set of workers on site). Sasikanth plays this role relatively a new face. And those who exploit the labor force are contractors, played by Babumohan, Narra and others, all working under the patronage of the minister Satteyya (Kota). The rest of the film is packed with the confrontation between the minister and his men and the hero in different garbs. The police finally suspect that this Mestri is the same man who is after them and punishing them. Rest goes in beaten track. The hero is given the company of a TV journalist who goes on shooting for her channel all the activities of the villains. This comes to her rescue when everything goes to court. The villains are exposed.
It is an ordinary drama. All the character actors behave the same way they were doing in similar roles. The hero and heroine that is this TV journalist played by Neha too offer routine performances and dances. Cheap comedy destroys the mood of what ever is presented in the main theme.
