The lists are interesting, Netherland’s Ryan Neil ten Doeschate, Laughlin, Weeraratne and Noffke have the dubious distinction of having the lowest ever base price ever at $20,000 while Shahid Afridi, Brad Haddin and Graeme Swann at the other end of the spectrum have a $250k base price tag. Remember that there is a $750k cap for each franchise this season and these are all one year contracts, since next year sees the end of the first cycle of contracts for all the players. Among the other highlights of Modi’s announcements were that RCB and KKR bought out Nathan Bracken and Ricky Ponting’s contracts respectively, perhaps strongly indicating the potential pull-out of several Aussie cricketers and franchises preparing to ensure they pick top players to replace them. Mohammed Kaif’s contract has also been bought out, not surprising considering the way RCB treated him last year. Modi also confirmed that tie-breakers will be used in the event of franchises maxing out on a player.
Finally, IPL 2010 auction will be held tomorrow and there are 66 players in the auction for the 12 available spots. Separate pools has been announced for the players and the base price for players are different. There are a total of 8 pools. Here are the base prices and pools of players in IPL 3 auction:
1) First pool has 4 players – Shahid Afridi, Brad Haddin, Graeme Swann all with $250,000 base price and Kieron Pollard at base price of $ 200,000.
2)2nd pool has 4 players – Ian Morgan, Wayne Parnell with base of $ 200,000 and Shane bond, Mohammad Kaif and Keimar Roach with base price of $ 100,000 each.
3)Pool 3 – Doug Bollinger and Sohail Tanveer at base $ 200,000, Akmal, Shakib Al hasan, Tim Bresnan, Darren Ganga, Justin Kemp, Nuwan Kulasekera all at base of $ 100,000.
4) 4th pool – akmal, hinds, hughes, Martyn, Nazir, Sarwan, Silva, Simmons, Tharanga, and Trott all at base price of $ 100,000.
5) 5th pool Benn, Elliott, Naved ul hasan at $ 100,000 and Henderson,Kleinveldt,Krejza, McCullum, Perera,van der warth at$ 50,000 Noffke 20,000
6) 6th pool Razzaq @ 100,000, Cheema, De Bruyn, Jayasinghe, Manou, Mcgrath, Philander, Van Wyk, Voges all @ 50,000 and Ten Doeschate at 20,000
7) 7th pool Aamer, Ajmal, Gul @ 100,000 and Zoysa, Abdulla, Mckay, Panesar, Tsotsobe, Welegedara all @ 50,000 and Laughlin,Weeraratne @ 20,000
8th pool – Ramprakash @ 200,000 and Ul Haq @100,000 and bravo, goodwin, kandamby, key, Pomersbach, van Jaarsved, Vincent all at 50,000.
