Another Nano Bursts Into Flames | Brand New Nano on Fire

Tata Motors’ Nano city car is once again making headlines in India, but not for the reasons you might think. Following three separate cases in 2009 when owners of the Nano in Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Delhi reported seeing smoke and flames coming out of their vehicles’ dashboard, another Nano caught fire. Only this time, Tata’s much-vaunted ‘world’s cheapest car’ literally went up in flames.

According to Indian news sites, the particular Nano was owned by insurance agent Satish Sawant who had just bought the car from a dealership in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, that provided him with a chauffeur as he -surprise, surprise- didn’t know how to drive.

About forty-five minutes into the drive the car burst into flames. Luckily, both Sawant and the driver managed to escape unhurt

A shaken Sawant said, ‘I have no idea what happened. A motorcycle rider overtook me and told me that the vehicle was on fire. The engine was behind me and I did not realise that the car was on fire,’

Its is extremely saddening that even after contributing so much to really make India shine on a global platform, back home, it is the easiest to blame Tata’s capabilities for everything that is wrong.

Allegations and sensationalism have become the norm of any existence. Core motto is to just disrupt every belief, play with emotions and create ruckus. This incident is yet another creation of the nasty game of corporate upmanship and vested interest. Trust to come out with innovative assumptions and ideas to rake in publicity and disrupt NANO’s smooth run. Disgusting!

This vilification campaign” at the behest of “vested corporate interest” forces must be stopped. “It is necessary to nip these malafide endeavors in the bud for the sake of one the most transparent and customer friendly companies.
